Parents are encouraged to establish emergency procedures with their children ahead of time to prepare for early school closings.

Automated phone calls, text messages, and emails will be sent to parents through the TE All-Call system, powered by SchoolMessenger. Please contact your school’s main office if you need to add or change one of your contact numbers for TE All-Call. Click here to learn more about the TE All-Call system.

Automated Attendance Calls and Emails

Parents/guardians are required to provide the school with a written excuse explaining why their child was absent within three school days of an absence. This is part of a new policy enacted last school year.

Hillside will accept emails from parents’/guardians’ designated email address or hand-written notes. It is important to note that the district will be sending an automated phone call and email when a parent does not send an email to the attendance email ([email protected]) reporting a student is absent. Parents may disregard the call and email if they have already provided a valid excuse to the school’s attendance office by emailing.

Leaving a message on the attendance voicemail (610) 240-1530 is helpful to the attendance office, but an email or note in writing is imperative to not have your child marked as unexcused.

New Pennsylvania Immunization Requirements

New Pennsylvania Immunization Requirements Go Into Effect August 1, 2017

Beginning August 1, 2017, parents will have a significantly shorter time frame to provide proof of vaccination, due to changes in school immunization regulations by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Previously, families may have had up to 8 months to provide proof of immunization. The new regulations require families to provide proof of immunization on or before the first day of school or risk their child’s exclusion. The new regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of preventable diseases.

Change in Hillside Highlights Newsletter Delivery, Deadlines

Beginning in October 2016, the PTO Communications Committee shifted delivery of the Hillside Highlights newsletter to Sunday afternoons. The decision to change delivery from Wednesday to Sunday was made in hopes that the new schedule will better enable parents to plan for the upcoming week.

To accommodate this change, the deadline for submissions for items to be included in the upcoming week’s Highlights likewise shifts to Tuesdays at 5 p.m. To submit an item for inclusion in the newsletter, please complete this form.
