Parents are encouraged to establish emergency procedures with their children ahead of time to prepare for early school closings.
Automated phone calls, text messages, and emails will be sent to parents through the TE All-Call system, powered by SchoolMessenger. Please contact your school’s main office if you need to add or change one of your contact numbers for TE All-Call. Click here to learn more about the TE All-Call system.
The PTO, teachers, and students need your support! You’re involvement is key so we can continue to enrich your children’s education. Please consider taking a volunteer chair position–many remain vacant! For a detailed description of each role please visit http://hillsidepto.digitalpto.com. If you are interested please contact Tracy Johnson, 2016-2017 PTO President.
If you were not able to attend the TESD Diversity Committee meeting but are interested in learning what was discussed, you can view the meeting minutes here.
Friends of Hillside Fundraiser for the 2017-2018 School Year
Year after year, parents of Hillside Elementary students have kindly donated to the Friends of Hillside Fundraiser (formerly the Hawky Campaign). These funds continue to be used for many different activities and items benefiting each and every student at the school. This year, the PTO will use this campaign as the primary fundraiser for Hillside.
We understand that it is sometimes hard as a parent to volunteer your time due to other obligations. Life gets so busy with work, kids, and activities that volunteering can become a burden. In order to reduce the need for some of the time-consuming fundraisers we’ve put on in previous years, the PTO this year is running the Friends of Hillside fundraiser to collect monetary donations from parents. Without this fundraiser and generous donations from parents, the Hillside PTO would lack sufficient funding for all of our great programs.
Beginning this school year, parents/guardians must provide the school with a written excuse explaining why their child was absent within three school days of an absence. Hillside will accept emails from parents’/guardians’ designated email address or hand-written notes. It is important to note that the district will be sending an automated phone call and email when a parent does not send an email to the attendance email (firstname.lastname@example.org) reporting a student is absent. Parents may disregard the call and email if they have already provided a valid excuse to the school’s attendance office by emailing.
Leaving a message on the attendance voicemail (610) 240-1530 is helpful to the attendance office, but an email or note in writing is imperative to not have your child marked as unexcused.
Welcome back! This year, thanks to more talented and helpful volunteers on the Communications team, we will be sending the Hillside Highlights email newsletter WEEKLY! This email newsletter contains important and informational news from the school, the district and PTO. It’s the best way to keep up to date on what’s happening at HES. If you don’t receive it, please sign up for it here.
